Safes in Europe have to be certified according to EN-1143-1 or EN 14450 regulations. These well-defined standards are tested at a handful of test facilities throughout Europe.
EN-1143-1 certification
Based on the tested resistance values to complete access and partial access, the safes are classified into security Grades as follows.
The difference between full access and partial access of the valuables in safe are time what it takes to break in. Partial access is considered when the valuables can be reached with a hand through the walls.
EN 14450 certification
The requirements for EN 14450 are lower than for resistance Grade 0 to EN-1143-1. Freestanding secure safe cabinets must pass an anchoring test.
